Were You There When the Good Float Went Down?

Friday last saw a Caledon Mardi Gras Parade, through various portions of our fair land.  The Caledon Library was represented by a float, masterminded by Miss June Wozniak, who returns to us the following report

"The Caledon Library was whimsically represented in the Caledon's first Mardi Gras parade with the float entitled "Steampunk Snark". Mr. Kuhn was so gracious as to drive the float from a perch atop the steam-stack, but was forced to abandon as it caught fire in Victoria City. The vessel was buried at sea. She will be sorely missed.
Many thanks to Riven Homewood, Iason Hassanov, Giljan Broek, Roy Smashcan, Kenny Hubble and Sir JJ for their effort, patience, input and cocktails. The float is expected to take "Best in Show" once the judges deposit the check."

Gentlebeings, your servant

If I may be allowed to correct a slight misrepresentation in the record... upon experiencing some difficulties in Caledon Carntaigh, Mr. Kuhn did enquire of me if I would, since I was affiliated with the LIbrary, take over navigation of said float. It is my belief that I did in fact accomplish said task, and deposit the aforementioned float in Caledon Tamrannoch. I state this solely as my belief, however, and not as fact, as the alleged float did never rezz for me during the entirety of the time I was in charge of its navigation. Rather I had the experience of perching atop the steam-stack, itself perched on thin air, a marvel of the mechanick arts which I found myself at a loss to explain.

Numerous passersby did, however, in response to my enquiries, assure me that I was driving a float, although perhaps in retrospect I must wonder if they were but humouring me, on account of the generous glass of Mr. Writer's absinthe I held in my right hand and the even more generous pour of something called a "Hurricane" I held in my left.

I beg the Archives, Oral History, Daguerreotype, and Alcoholic Special Collections Departments of the Caledon Library to assist me with such research as they may undertake to resolve this troublesome question.

I believe, Mr. Woodget. that you may fairly be said to have been piloting the float both inter-subjectively and with appropriate accompanying beverages, and that no more can be asked of any noble son, daughter, or &c., of Caledon.

Herr Drinkwater,

A handsome float, a remarkable event, and I am heartily sorry that due to scheduling I missed the whole of it.

I had plans for Ritterin Ordinal's Follow-Blimp, too. Alas.

Yrs.,

Klaus Wulfenbach, Baron
