Lord Rosse, the Man Behind the Monster Telescopes

William Parsons, the third Earl of Rosse (1800-1867), better known as Lord Rosse, was a very busy man. He was an aristocratic landlord to thousands of Irish farm tenants, a politician, an engineer, and an astronomer.
Today he's best-known for building the largest telescope of the 19th century - the Leviathan of Parsonstown, and using it to discover what we now call "spiral galaxies."
But who was Lord Rosse and what was his life like? Attend this talk to find out!
