La Nozze di Figaro, or The Marriage of Figaro, is known (and loved!) for its high antic humor and unsparing wit as well as for Mozart's glorious compositions.

This classic tale of masters and servants, schemers and dupes, lovers and triflers gives us, in the course of a single day, a vast interwoven tapestry of human foibles and ridiculous situations…all enlivened by love, music, and the knowledge that everything will come right in the end…or, at least, mostly.

If we can bear to turn our attention away from the music, we will also consider the La Nozze di Figaro's relationship to the other FigaroLa folle journée, ou le Mariage de Figaro, by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, from which the opera draws its plot and characters.

Sponsored by the Caledon Library, and Produced by Radio Riel
